Though we don't have many sunny days here in the winter, when we do I don't take them for granted. I spent a little time outside taking some photos. It was about 10 F with calm winds, but with the sun out all I needed was a pair of sunglasses and a fleece pullover. I guess we're acclimated to the cold now Down our road: Looking South: Long and short legged heifer calves about the same age: Tessa, a shortie yearling heifer: Trinket (short) and Lara (long), full sisters one year apart in age: Dolly, who is a beautiful traditional lines Dexter cow: Maverick, dun carries red shortie yearling bull, A2/A2. We're hoping to find a new home for him: Rebel Patriot, a red polled shortie July 2013 bull, A2/A2, who we'll be keeping to breed to some of our red girls. His mom is probably the shortest cow we have (she's behind him):
If we get any more snow I'm going to need taller fences in some spots!

Hans, I also seem to have some 2 foot fences! Your weather sounds the same as ours...the sunlight today had a different quality, it felt like spring :-) The cows are enjoying it too.. :-)

Wonderful photos, Hans! I love the photo of Trinket (what a great name!) and Lara. Your snow is beautiful! I wouldn't mind having some if it didn't come with the temperatures you get.

The cows were all standing broadside to the sun today. And what better breed of cattle to stay in a 2' high fence than a Dexter!
