Twenty years ago I had esophageal cancer. One of the side effects is that I became lactose intolerant.
We have a Hy-Vee Grocery opening this spring here in Springfield, Illinois. They carry Prairieland Dairy products, which although are not advertised as being A2 because of patent restrictions I have read earlier that Prairieland Dairy was A2.
I will be anxious to try some experiments with their milk to see if it affects me any differently than other local brands.

The Prairieland Dairy in Firth, Nebraska has been producing A2 milk for many years. Wrong! Prairieland has stopped selling A2 Milk. Hy-Vee Store no longer carries their product, It has been this way for a few years now according to the folks at Prairieland. Their cows are all run together now for milk production be it A2 or A1. They make or claim no difference between the two. Barb Edited to add, they no longer carry prairielands A2 product.

Makes one think that for Prairieland Dairy to not call their milk A2 anymore has to do with the patent from A2 Corporation. Earlier Prairieland stated that all their facilities had been set up for strictly A2. I doubt very much that they got rid of their A2 cows.

The USA Today article from 2007 stated that only 175 of approximately 1,500 cows milked daily at Praireland, produced A2 milk:
"The dairy industry is really slow to change," said Dan Rice, of Prairieland, as he stood next to a row of Holstein cows at the dairy. "We're taking a huge risk."
For now, just 175 of the approximately 1,500 cows milked daily produce the A2 Milk being sold in Hy-Vee grocery stores. And Grant Prentice, president of U.S. operations for A2 Corporation, said there are no current plans to develop more special herds in the United States, although that could change depending on the success of the milk in Midwest grocery stores."
Since that was a relatively small percentage of the Prairieland dairy herd, in 2007, it's doubtful if Prairieland Dairy is selling any A2 milk in 2014. In order to do so, they would have to completely segregate the A2/A2 cows production into separate bulk tanks and bottling. That would add substantial expense, and with no increase in profit potential, they would have no reason to pursue doing it. They tried for a couple of years to find a market for their A2 milk, but the market (in the Midwest grocery stores) just didn't support the higher price structure needed for that product.

Well I am glad you were able to back up what I said in my previous post, that Prarieland no longer sold A2 milk. When I talk to Mr. Rice several years back he mentioned at that time A2 milk was a real pain, and that they wished they had never started. I didn't go into details with him as to his reasons because I know his time is valuable. I'm sure a lot of it has to be the royalties Prairieland has to pay to the A2 corp.

We have a plan underway to invite a speaker to the 2015 ADCA AGM who was intimately involved with the actions that led to the establishment of the only dairy that was ever authorized to produce A2 Milk in the US. I was asked my opinion on this matter several months back. My comment at that time and still is unless both sides of the coin can be told with hard scientific evidence it’s pointless. So will both sides of the A2 debate be told? Barb

Gene, do you have an idea on the dates for the AGM there in VA yet? I'm hoping it will be later in June to give us Northerners with kids (or in Sheril's case a teacher, a chance to attend).
