Its always funny to see what we like to call the babysitter cow. Its usually one of the older cows that has calved already. We have 5 heifer calves on the ground, 4 red and 1 black. They all hangout together with this old lady, I think that's our Rosie.

How nice for them to hang out with each other and Rosie. I bet she teaches them manners, too.

We've noticed that as well, but they seem to take turns in our herd, with the one that most recently calved doing it the majority of the time.
Our herd of youngsters is getting so large now I'm detecting some gang activity with the calves. The "duns" vs the "blacks". The few "reds" we have seem to stay out of trouble and hang out with their mothers.

That is backwards! The one who most recently calved should get to rest while the other cow-ladies do her chores.
