Exactly on the day she was supposed to calve, we have a heifer out of Matilda and Mike. Not sure if she's a carrier or not, I'll have to wait a day or two to make a better guess. She was pretty small, 30 lbs. or so, but just a guess since I didn't want to take her to the barn to weigh her. What a great day for calving! Matilda's girl: Matilda's sister Dolly calved two weeks ago, a little chondro heifer also out of Mike: This is MA Bunny, A2/A2 heifer out of Mike and Alberta, Dun carries red, non-carrier of chondro, and she's for sale when she's ready to be weaned.

Good job, Matilda! Hans did you see the birth or just find mama + 1? "Bunny," I hope she becomes a family's house cow with such a cute name.

No, we're pretty laid back about it this time of year. Mike throws such small calves the moms probably have to check back there to make sure it wasn't just a big poop. Matilda's girl last year was out of Timber, our older red bull, and she was close to 50 lbs. So "Marlene" as Sheril has named her was a piece of cake for Matilda. Sheril and I met for dinner, and we came back to Matilda and her heifer. Looking at her today I think she's a non carrier though. We still may keep her even though it doesn't fit with our long term plans just because we want to keep some of Mike's last heifer calves. Bunny was born Easter Sunday, and Dagny, Dolly's calf, was born Mothers Day. I'm excused from flowers and brunch on Mother's day when a calf is born

Hans, you should add champagne to the flowers and brunch to celebrate the calf.

Hans, you should add champagne to the flowers and brunch to celebrate the calf. I'm excused because I can't get Sheril to leave the pasture, not because I'm looking for a reason
