A friend mentioned that she was going to be trying pea pellets for her goats (and that the other critters, including cattle, loved them too). Pea pellets are the pea vines that have been harvested after field pea production and are then pelletized as one would see alfalfa pelletized. Apparently they are about 2/3 the cost per ton of alfalfa and because of the nature, there is virtually zero waste---making them pretty ideal for goats. $ 175 a ton and zero waste is pretty darned appealing. High protein also.
I can't find much on the 'net regarding this product. I'd rather not just take a single producer's claims as "gospel". Anyone tried it on cattle or see problems? I don't intend to use it as a primary feed but if I get a couple of tons for the goats anyway, it'd be nice to pass a little along to the beefs if needed over the winter.
