I have a couple cows with 4 main teats, then 2 little ones that point backward. Their udders otherwise look good. I s this considered an undesirable trait?

According to Gearld Fry, it is not undesirable and is, or may be a sign of higher fertility. I do not remember which of his videos I heard this in, but if you have the time, look him up on YouTube. Lots of great stuff.

I have one with two extra teats. i don't plan on having her in the show ring, so it's not a big deal to me. I know you can snip them when they are young, but we bought her at a year old. It also doesn't make a difference for nursing her calf since they are small.

www.dexters4u.com/2013/06/976/This is a good article too. If you don't like the way they look you or your vet can easily remove them. It is so common, I have 1 calf with 2 extra teats.
