My Google-Fu has failed me. I have searched all over. This question has to of been asked before, however I can not find it anywhere. I have sent hair in to be tested for DNATyping/Parentage and the Beta Casein to TAMU. Three were tested and only one had the Beta Casein I am looking for.
If I want to do further testing for color and such do I need to send in a new hair sample to TAMU?

crmichael, I don't use TAMU anymore so I'm not as up to date on their procedures, but if you sent in adequate amounts of hair, TAMU should still have enough on file to do it. I know what to do at UCD--you just sign into your online account and go to the "Order More Tests" tab, and they automatically use your stored samples. How exactly to go about it at TAMU, I don't know, but I'd suggest calling or emailing. I used to have good look getting them to answer the phone and emails. Hope this helps.

crmichael - Contact Dr. Cothran's assistant for testing (or ordering additional tests) at Texas A&M: Rytis Juras, Ph.D. Research Associate Scientist Animal Genetics Lab. VIBS, CVM Texas A&M University College Station, TX 77845-4458 (979) 845-6524 RJuras@cvm.tamu.edu or Caitlin Castaneda, B.S. Research Assistant Animal Genetics Lab VIBS, CVM Texas A&M University College Station, Tx 77845-4458 (979) 845-6524 CCastaneda@cvm.tamu.edu Either of these two lab assistants can help you with questions about your testing. If there is a sufficient sample of tail hair in storage at the lab, they can do additional tests on that sample. Normally, you would need to fill out the test application form and send payment for the tests, along with a sample. But if they have sufficient sample in storage, you can just fill out the test application form and send payment, identifying the stored sample to be used. Here is a link to the test application forms and instructions: www.dextercattle.org/pdf/forms/A&M%2Bnew%2Btest%2Bform%2B2%5B1%5D.pdf Patti
