Hi! We have a small ranch in very southern, I can see Mexico from my house, California. We currently only have 1 PDCA heifer who is hopefully bred and are looking for another heifer or younger cow to keep her company because she was so utterly depressed when her boyfriend had to leave abruptly. We got her as a pasture baby and we really would like a bottle calf for our daughter to raise because Breezy does NOT like her one bit! The couple we bought Breezy from has a month and half old dun heifer calf my husband is in love with so we'll see! We also have 3 horses, 2.5 donkeys (our new jenny my husband adopted from the BLM was gathered in Feb already bred), 5 american guinea hogs(2 gilts and 1 boar are registered), 1 goat, 5 turkeys, 10 ducks, a pile of chickens, 2 dogs and 1 fat cat. I am happy to have found another source of information on our newfound love of these little cows!

Welcome from across the country! Are you a sailor? Former sailor? I was! My husband is still active duty with a few years left til he retires and I stay home with our daughter and all the critters. Both of us were/are Seabees(dirt sailors). Several of our animals are pretty well traveled, one horse from Mississippi, our cat from a rest area in Missouri, 2 horses and a donkey from Wisconsin, 1 dog from Arizona and the rest are from California. One more move and no more!

Nice! My husband was a Navy Doctor and I was a SWO. We were East Coast sailors, though. I traveled from Norfolk to Missouri to buy my first three Dexter heifers when I was still on active duty (shore command). It was right after Hurricane Katrina. Before I made the trip, I parked the trailer on base and put a sign up for people to stuff the horse trailer with school kits and personal hygiene kits. I left with a full trailer to drop off at one of the relocation supply locations and came back with three, very cute, Dexter weanlings.

Rancho is one of the most common farming methods, widely used in the Western Hemisphere during the colonization of America by immigrants from the European continent.
