I know I have found a post about this already but I have researched this so much that I forgot where I found it and what it said. So much to learn! We have 4 Dexters on about 6 acres of native pasture. We have caught a lot of great rain and there seems to be plenty of green grass for everyone to eat. Do you still recommend keeping hay available and/or supplementing with protein cubes or is grazing enough? If grazing is enough... how do you tell when it is not enough and you need to start supplementing?

It depends on where you live. They definitely need a mineral source, but you'll need to know about selenium levels in your area. Contact your County Agricultural Extension Agent for details on how best to feed cattle in your area. The information is free and paid for by taxes.
