Hi all, Thanks ahead for your help in this. 4 weeks ago I bought a dexter cow. She came to us with a halter on, she was halter broken. However, she was very skiddish around us. We put her in the barn in a good sized pen by herself. At first when I would approach her to bring hay or water she would charge at me or shake her head. I wouldn’t even dream of going in the pen with her. Finally now I’ve gotten to the point where I can bring her food and she will respond calmly and she will eat grass out of my hand. I have scratched her a bit on the head but she doesn’t like it. Whenever my kids or anyone new go and look at her she goes crazy shaking her head and charging at the gate. Is this because she is alone? I had high hopes of having her as a milking cow. But honestly she scares me now bc I find she’s so unpredictable. Is the best thing to sell her and try to find a calmer cow?
