I would very much like to learn how to AI cattle. Those of you who do it, where did you learn?? I've never seen a class offered in this area. I like having a bull, but sometimes I'd like a different sire for a baby, like the momma cow I have now and I'm trying to get rid of my bull because he's her calf. If I could AI I'd put her up and breed her to someone else. Thanks for any suggestions, P.J.

Most AI studs offer a training course. If they do not check with your Animal Science Dep. at your local Lnd Grant University they may be albe to help in the training for AI.

Copperhead, as fuzzy said, most big genetics companies offer AI training. If you have an ABS rep. in your vicinity, check with them. I took a thee-day training course years ago. Check with your vet. They might be willing to train you.

The cows vulva..that Im suppose to be watching for swelling... is it the lower opening below the tail? the top one is the rectum, right? :sigh:

That's right, darbyfamily. Don't worry about asking questions, that's how you learn.

Another option, almost all dairy herds use AI exclusively (at least here they do) and they may have a tech on staff I know some times you can arrange with them to do yours and teach you the procedure that is if you have a herd near by. HCD
