Hi everyone, I did a search that didn't come up with anything, so, I hope I didn't miss something. Who does everyone recommend for genetic testing? Are most people just using the ADCA? I'd like to have our bull tested for Chondro and also color-typed. Thanks! Great forum by the way.

yes, I use the labs listed on the ADCA web site. There are different labs based on the test ordered. The instructions can be found on the ADCA web site.

I just submitted a number of samples (blood) for pha testing - another lab. Hopefully, we will get a hair test for this genetic condition soon.

Montana,
Legacy Group sponsors testing at the world renowned Veterinary Genetics Lab at UC-Davis in California. UCD has been testing and maintaining databases for various breeds since the mid 1950's. The FIRST and ONLY Dexter cattle DNA Database for Parentage confirmation was established at UC-Davis in 2004, and both large and small Dexter breeders across the US are using the database to maintain parentage confirmed Dexter herds and breeders can reasonbly trust the records will be available and accessible well into the future.
UC-Davis maintains the highest of ethical standards. They test by license permission ONLY and will NOT use samples submitted and paid for by private owners for UCD research.
UCD fees are: DNA genotyping $25, Chrondro $20 Dun or Red Factor $20. For Chondro Dun and Red the first test is $20 but each additional test on the same order is $10, so the cost for Chondro, Red and Dun tested from one sample is $ 40.00 total. Chondro and Red would be $30.
