So this morning at about 5am I wake up to Lucy calf bawling her head off, this is very strange she hardly ever talks. So I look out and I can see her but not her Momma Miss Ethel. I quick throw on some jeans and go out side. I can see both Mom and baby. Momma is standing in a "daze" inside the hay feeding barn and baby is standing in the shelter barn, mind you there are about 15ft at the most apart. Lucy is bawling her head off and Momma is just standing there. Normally if Lucy talks Momma will answerer right back and baby will run over to her. But not this morning, Momma just stood there in a daze. I walked up to her and petted her and rubbed on her and she bearly even acted like I was there. I gave her a nudge to see if she would walk out to show her baby it was OK and she stumbled and almost fell down.
This scared me alot!!
I put the halter on her and got her to walk a bit but she is not very sturdy at all. I walked her a bit and lead her over to some nice green grass that we have had fenced off from them to give it a chance to really grow. She ate some but still just seams in a daze.
I look at the hay barn and it looks like she hasn't eaten hardly anything in the last two days, (this is when we put a new bale in). I know her and Lucy have been held up in the between the two barns now for the last 2 days just because we have had some really crazy weather, even a funnel cloud, not to far from us here in Washington, non stop thunder and lightning, hail and just flat out hard downpour rain.
Lucy will be 3 months old this week this week and is still nursing sometimes, and Momma still had milk when I milked her a little to see if she had any, but this is all very very strange. Has anyone had or seen anything like this? Any idea's as to what to do?
