Good Morning All, I have a problem on my cows with lice. Trying to stay "reasonably" organic. I have heard of "Astroban", but don't know if it really works or if it might not be good for them. Any suggestions on how to get rid of lice without hurting 1) the cow, 2) the milk, & 3) the environment? I don't post, or even log on very often, but really appreciate all of the good information I've gleaned from this site Thanks, Donn

We have had very good luck just dusting affected areas (neck, usually for ours) with diatomaceous earth. We also use No Fly from Crystal Creek Naturals as our fly spray (nontoxic, herbal formula). It might also work against lice, but it is pricey. Hope this helps!

A few lice are not really a concern. If the cattle are healthy, given plenty of room, rain and sunshine and adequate nutrition will keep the lice at a very low level. It's only when animals are crowded and undernourished that lice can take hold and become a problem. JMO ..marion
