Hi to all--I hope you and your critters are warm! This is probably another one of my stupid questions but --my Elsie has horns that curl in and I think are so pretty BUT as she gets older will they grow into her head?? We took some commercial beef to the sale the other day and there was a poor cow whose horn(the other one was broke off) was touching her face and looked like it was going to grow into her head!! Now I am worrying about Elsie--has anyone ever had this happen or will her horns quit growing?

Her horns appear to be growing forward away from her head so Elsie maybe alright. Horns are like finger nails and continue to grow although they may slow down as she ages. Watch Elsie in case they do need to be removed in the future. The problems we had when I was growing up was dehorning mistakes or broken horns that caused the horn to grow downward and curl toward the head. Those had to be removed again.

She will be 6 in June..I hate to think I would have to do anything to her horns--she is so pretty! My other cow has horns that stick straight out and they are a little sharper looking!!!LOL
