Sometimes, when I travel to places where you can actually build fence in the winter, or you could buy a farm with infrastructure, or there's an A.I. tech close by, I'm envious of other places. I appreciate what you and others are doing for the Dexter breed. I'm doing well just to keep this one little cow bred to something small enough that won't kill her. I keep hoping I'll get someone interested in the breed enough to keep a small herd. I love looking at old barns and farming equipment when we travel back to Missouri and Kansas. But, I've lived here 43 years, and won't be moving anywhere. I'm glad you're enjoying the show-some of it-we just roll our eyes and laugh. Especially at the narration! Marsha

I really enjoy the show to. I like Otto and his son Eivan. Otto is a great character makes me laugh. This series is a lot more in depth than the last one I think. What does Otto think of your Dexter Marsha?

The people who have the grazing lease at the head of the bay, are the Fox River Cattlemans' Association. Mark is the one they took hay to in the winter a few episodes back. When he came over to see L.C. right after I got her, I'd never heard a cowboy say "Cute" before! Otto said the same thing! I had him on speed dial when she was due to deliver, but didn't need any help. I'm the closest with Otto and Charlotte, but Eivin and Eve are real sweethearts. Eivin won my heart when they came over to get the goat, and he reached down, scooped her up, and carried her back to the car like a baby. (Pregnant goat)

Thanks so much for telling us about the show. We record it and I try to get dh to wait and watch it with the kids but he can't wait so I watch them all twice. It makes my oldest girls thankful we live here. My oldest son wants to move to Alaska!

Otto and Charlotte have "woofers" most summers, maybe he can come up when he's 18. World Organization of Organic Farmers, (I think). They come up and work on farms, for a few days or a few months. Live rough, room and board. Marsha

One little tidbit that I found out last week, it's Atz and his daughter, Jewel, singing at the beginning of the show. Yes, Jewel, the pop singer, grew up here, and went on to fame and fortune. Marsha

I just absolutely love that show..My husband and I were raised in Maine, so I kinda know what this life is about...Except for the hunting thing...I have never hunted for my food...My grandmother used to have a camp up in northern Maine where she and her husband hunted for deer and black bear...But i sure wish I could be up there living in Alaska...Wish so many times I was younger!....Donna

Last night's episode was the one that I was in, but they edited me out-except my hands when Otto and I were pulling the calf-the one that died. They edit out almost everyone, but the family. The best scene I've seen was last night's with the cow eating Charlotte's hat. She rescued it out of the cow's mouth, and wrung the cow slobbers out. Marsha

Marsha, I also never miss that program, I love it!...I was laughing my head off about the cow eating Charlottes' hat..At first I was worried the cow would swallow it, but when she got the hat back, I was so relieved...And I know she was....But she sure was upset the cow made holes in it!LOL...That is such a great show...When you see your neighbors again, please tell them hello from TEXAS!!!!!

So, now there is yet another reality show in Alaska, by Discovery, "Edge of Alaska", that airs tomorrow night. One of the people featured is the man who bought my last calf, Skye. She is half Highlander and such a sweetheart. My daughter is recording it for me, but I won't see it until I go back up to see her. So if anyone sees it, and sees my Skye, let me know how she looks. Thanks, Marsha

Donna I saw that small red cow also and wondered if it was Skye. The guys name was Jeremy Keller that owned that cow, was that her?
