I don't see the lose/lose.
Don't think I ever said you know more than I. Just that you are motivated, and I'm not. I tried to give you a lead, but if you don't want it, you don't have to pursue it.
cheers, c.

If the TYPR1 is defect found in _possibly_ all animals - then why do you have to specifically state "Dexter" for testing?
Easy, while TYPR1 is found in other animals - it is unique to the Dexter because of the "response"
Simple.

This 'select' groups' current witch hunt is 'proving' dun was introduced from some sort of misregistered cross and shouldn't be included in the accepted Dexter gene pool. Gees I hope these purists dont have polled dexters - heaven forbid

Well, this is WAY over my head...I like dun, I have dun and I'll keep dun Ditto, 1/3 of our herd is dun 1/2 non-dun coloured are dun carriers. Aim in 10 years: 90% of herd is dun coloured 10% dun carriers Thats how much we like the colour ;D

I want dun too. I bought several straws last year of a nice red bull that is homo for dun. We will use him for another year to get a couple of heifers that carry dun, then switch to a dun bull that carries red. Hoping to see red, dun, and black out in the paddocks in a few years.

I finally color tested my little herd.
1 Heifer black only 1 Heifer red only 1 cow black, carries dun 1 cow red only
Bull ~ black, carries red and dun.
We are hoping to see all 3 colors. Maybe my black cow that carries dun will give us a dun calf this year. That is my only chance of dun at this point.
My black cow that carries dun had a dun calf before we got her so just maybe.
